The fire engine is coated in ice, as is the ladder a firefighter is climbing, at the scene after a fire at Dingwall building, 62 Albert Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. |
The Winnipeg Firefighters fought the blaze all night on February 3, 1921 in 20-below-zero weather. William McIllhago of No. 1 Firehall died in an explosion on the fifth floor of the building. Leslie Shewan of No. 3 Firehall was taken to the hospital suffering from the effects of gas. He did recover. |
